Final film logo pictures

Written by Damon on at 03:22

This is A presentation of our final logo that we wanted to use as final product, as you can see I drew out the first image by hand and the scanned it onto the computer, Nick then used the image and made it into an animation using Macomedia Flash. Nick made the first one but we both thought that the white background did not go with the black theme that we have through out the film, So Nick then changed it to a black background and white text as shown below. We both decided to use an animation because a lot of exciting logo have a moving image and we thought that it would show that we are able to use new technologies in our work.

The spider diagram above lists the key differences that I think Richard and Jason Bourne have.

Age rating of our film

Written by Damon on at 03:08

We have decided to give our film opening a 15 rating becuase we feel that the genre of film will contian alot of violence, and from the oepning you can already see that it will cotiain violence the way that the assasisng is trying to blow up the other character.Alothe fact that we see him prepare his gun in the opening which indicates he is into violence.

Evluation Task 4

Written by Damon on at 03:07

This is Tom king who is 19 and lives in a small vilalge of Croft, in the leicestershire, he is a full tiem studnet who is studiying gegraphy, science. He is intrested in long distances runnig and weightlifting. he is a very active person who enkys physcial activity.

The type of filsm that Tom likes shooter, the dark knight, tghe Bourne trilogy he is interested in action thriller films becuase most of his favourite films fall into not that genre.Tom is laos intresrted in going to the cinema and is abig movie fan.

I htinks that Tom would like our film becuase it is sismalir to a lot of his favourte action thriller filmns such as the Bourne Triology which is his favourite triolgy films, it would also appeal to Tom becuase it ocntians high paced action simialr to the bouren films

Evaluation Task 3 - What Kind of Media Institutions might distribute your media product and why?

Written by Unknown on Saturday, 17 April 2010 at 11:28

This our film with a directors commentary style voice over, I talk about What kind of Media Institution might distribute our media product and why, also I talk about the titles and the logo.

The commentary on the YouTube video is a lot better as I have edited most of the clips so they don't sound as bad, although they aren't great quality which I'm apologetic for, the reason why it's so bad is because I ended up using the microphone on my headphones to record, other wise the sound files wasn't audible as I tested.
I have ended up shortening my speech on the video as when I read all of the text I couldn't fit it all into the length of the short 2 mins 35, so as a result I have ended up shorten what I say.l

Evaluation Task 7 - Looking back at your preliminary task (the continuity editing task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

Evaluation Task 7

For this task I used Microsoft Word 2007 and then uploaded it to Scribd.com which is a website which allows me to upload documents such as Word documents or OpenOffice documents, then you can get the embed code, and paste it onto any blog/webpage and view the document as it was made/designed to.

Evaluation Task 5 - How did you attract/address your audience?

Written by Unknown on at 11:27

This is our Final version of the film we made titled, "Time Won't Tell", I have added annotations using the YouTube onsite editing web application. I have commented the USP's, Genre Conventions, Music used and the Similarities between our film and others

Genre Conventions Comments
Unlike most films of the same genre as our film we have broke the conventions, these broken conventions include;

  • Budget
  • Dangerous Phyical Stunts
  • and destructive disasters
We have broken the budget convention by the conventions of an action film, by having a really small budget, involved in the film making compared to standard films of this genre such as Bourne Ultimatum, James Bond and Die Hard, which have budget rising into the many hundreds of millions of dollars to blow on awesome special effects, etc.
Secondly We don't have any dangerous physical stunts involved in the sequence because we don't have any professional stunts person to cover for the actors, unlike any of the general films which would employee specialists stunt people and co-ordinators to do the stunts, like jumping though a window two stories below from a balcony of another building or crashing and flipping a car at high speed.
There isn't any destructive disasters which include; Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Volcanoes, etc. The reason why these aren't include is because of Costs/Budget and Special Effects, the costs of making these would be enormous and we didn't have either the computing power or specialist software to create these special effects.

We have followed the conventions of this genre of film in the following ways;
  • High Tempo
  • High Energy
  • Allows for Audience Escapism
The Film is a of high tempo and energy, and due to this it'll have the audience members on the edge of their seats wanting to see more of the adrenaline pumping, fast pace action film, along with that we have used the music accordingly.
Our film allows the audience to discover escapism whilst watching it, the film is believable, enjoyable and watchable it makes the audience want to watch, due to the fact that for a hour or two the audience can watch a film which makes allows them to relax but at the same time enjoy it and have their heart beat faster than just sitting watching a tv show, because of the high octane fast pace fof the action film.

I also like the starting credits to the film Hostage although there isn't a clip below there will be soon.

Final Actors - Rhys Withers

Written by Unknown on at 10:37

Rhys Withers is one of the two of our actors we chose for our final filming. He is 17 years old, lives in Narborough and enjoys playing sports which includes Football. Rhys is also interested and enjoys Computing, and as well as playing on his Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. He is planning on going to university to get a Degree in computer games programming, to get a job as a computer games programmer.

I believe that Rhys was the perfect actor for us to choose because he fitted what we both wanted of the actor, who  is a casual man who was on his way to work.

The person Rhys plays is a casual business man who is being targeted by an assassin, yet he isn't really aware of if (for sure) or when he's going to be killed.

We told Rhys to wear black shirt and trousers, along with his and black shoes which are shown below

Today's Target/Task to complete by end of lesson

Written by Unknown on at 10:35

My target is to complete putting all the shots into order, cut them and match them for continutity. By this I mean that I need to p ut my shots in order that we plan on them running in the Film Trailer on the timeline on iMovie, then I'm going to cut the shots to the parts that we want so that they match with each other, once this is done I am going to make sure that they fit so the continuity fits correctly

Final Actors - Richard Anderson

Written by Unknown on Thursday, 25 March 2010 at 14:45

Richard Anderson is the second of our actors that we chose for our final filming, When we chose Richard to be the actor who plays the assassin, because he is more mature, when he had his leather coat and gloves on with his  cap, he looked similar to how you would expect an assassin to dress he didn't look to casual but didn't look to obvious that if you walked around a town, that he wouldn't stick out from the crowd, and that is what we wanted, we also knew that we wanted it for the viewer to know which character was which and with Richard wearing this type of clothing, I believe it did make it obvious

Final location for filming (office where assassin is based, Part 1)

Written by Unknown on Sunday, 7 March 2010 at 11:39

These four Pictures are of an office which we have decided to film our final filming, We chose this place because it fits what we were looking for, I believe that the room was the best option, because of the the fixtures and features of the room, e.g. the pictures, statues, etc. I believe that these fittings in the office fitted into the assassins personality and helped the viewers to understand and relate to him more easily even though he is a cold blooded killer as his career

Insiration for movie opening videos

Written by Damon on at 06:24

I choose this video becuase I the actual movie and I think that It would be a good idea to use got our film opening becuase the camera shots that are used are good becuase it uses most of them in this scene i laos like the story line of clip.I like this clip becuse it has good possible ideas that we could use for our film opening. I also like the genre of the clip which is action thriller which is one of my favourite genre for movies.

Orginally for our film opening we were going to use some of ideas that shooter has becuase at the time we felt that it would be a godd film to use as inspiration, but as tiem went on we all felt that it may to be to complicated to try an incorparate some of ideas used in the opening scene.

The Dark knight interigation

Written by Damon on at 06:23

I choose to use this youtube clip becuase I like the character the Joker becuase the costume he wears and the appereernce of him is brillaint in my opinion. I also choose it because it has given me ainspiration for one the film opening characters, because I think it would be good use somme ideas to give a clear idea for the charactersin the film opening. Ilso like it because the type of film opening I am aiming for needs to have a villain. So from the clip it has given me soem ideas for the villian.

Sum of all fears car explosion.

Written by Damon on at 06:22

I choose to use this You Tube clip as part of my inspiration for our film opening, because Like the way in which the character in the end dies with a bang, the car exploding, I also like the suspence that it offer because at first you think he has got away with it and then unexpectedly he lights his cigarette and that is what sets the bomb off causing the explosion compared to the other two villains who both assassinated using different methods. I also like the video clip because the way in which the villain and the butler both think the car is going to blow up so I like the way in which they both look relived when the car does not blow up when the butler turns the ignition, Also like the way in which the assassin get his cigarette out because he is relived and that is what kills him,and that is the reason I like the clip because it is unexpected.

Film opening titles

Written by Damon on at 06:21

Film opening titles

• Time After Time
• Against the clock
• Race against time
• The clock watcher
• Time 4 murder

The tiles above are a few of the titles that I have come up with, however it was not just my diesciosn so as i was working with Nick and Paul, who also came up with some title names which they likded which we would then choose from the best name as a group

Some of Nick film title names are:

  • In the background
  • The rise
  • Una escapada
  • Asesinato
  • About the unknown

These are some ideas that I have come up with which could be used for our film opening, I have choose these because I feel that they, they could all be used as the title because they all relate to the story behind the film opening. From the list above I feel that the Time after Time is the best because it seems the most suitable. In my opinion because it makes me think owe what an unusual name.

Media location photos

Written by Damon on at 06:20

These are some initial photos that I took which I though could be used as possible film location for our film as out initial idea was going to be action out door opening I thought it would be best to use out door locations so that it suits the types of scene we were hoping to create.

These photos taken were some of the location that we were going to use as part of our film however as we decided not to use Shooter as our main insiration for our film the photos taken may not be as asppropriate, however it was part of a learning prosses, and we may still use some of the photos shown.

colour wheel

Written by Damon on at 06:19

Theses are colour wheels that I found form the Goggle because I wanted to see what the different types of colours are so that we could then incorporate the colours into our project having looked at the wheels we have thought that it would more suitable to use a range of primary of and secondary colour because we felt that it would make more sense to both as we were unsure with we thought would be most suitable. The main primary colour that I think we might use the most for our film opening is the blue and yellow because as most of clip is out door we are more licklly to use these tow clour more because red is usually a colour used in indoor so we might use the red for the indoor scene.

The secondary colours that I think we would use the most is the orange and the green because they both fit into the plot of our film opening for example the green would work well because as the second part of the opening is outdoor it matches well becuaase when people think of out doors the main colours they think represent it most is the greens and blues more green if it is the countryside. The orangey colours that they are could be suitable to use becasue as out main colour theme is urban it may fir well however we will have to experiment with it first, to see if it will be suitable.

Urban colour scheme

Written by Damon on at 06:17

The colour scheme that we have tried to incorporate into our film is mainly urbanely based colour because the basic plot to our film opening has building and other urban based scenery. The colours that we think that associate with urban is mainly the clod and dark colours. I have managed to find some sample that Think is similar colours that I would associate with urban

As well as using urban based colour we were also looking to use some warm colour like green because from the basic plot that we have I fell that we would be bale to use a range of colour like the green in the film opening.

Film opening basic stort line

Written by Damon on at 06:15

Film opening story line
The film opening that we are producing has a an action genre and we have used ideas from various films such as Sum of all fears which was rereleased in 2002, the part I got the inspiration from is the end scene when all the enemies assassinated in different ways and the part I like and have used elements from is when the enemies car blows up when he pushes the cigarette lighter, and the bit where the culprit looks through the window and then walks out the room.
The opening scene begins with a person in an office sitting down and staring at an old fashioned pocket watch for a few second s this being a close up camera shot of just the clock. The scene then cuts and we the see a glare of light that covers the whole shot, for e few seconds which makes the audience think what is it, the camera then panes out and we then see a man walk into the shot, holding a mirror by his side we then see the person walk to his car and get into the car. When the man is in the car we then try to focus on the persons expressions which show that something is not right, the person then looks at the centre mirror in the car for a split second and then gets out of car and looks under the car and see a flickering light, at first he does not know what it is so we uses his mirror to get a better look and realises that it is a bomb with a timer on which has a few minutes left. The person then gets under car to try and disarm the bomb he then manages unlatches the bomb, and then gets out from under the car and goes into the car and gets some pliers to cut one of wires on the bomb however he does not know which one to cut so he decides to cut one not being sure if it is the right one. We then go back to the man in the office who we see press the button on the side of the clock, and then the titles then appear.
The reason we have done the combination of two differ people is because it makes the audience think has the person defused the bomb in time because we don’t actually see if he is successful, and we also don’t know, the audience also don’t know why the man is staring at the clock at the begging making the audience curious.

Moodbaord for action genre

Written by Damon on at 05:01

oMedia Moodboard

This is a mood board that I produced which represents different action genre pictures, I did this
so that I could get an idea and inspiration that we could use the ideas in our film opening. The idea
of the mood board was so that we could find out what action genre include so that when we made our
film opening we would be able to incorporate action ideas so that we meet the typical action conventions.

Action film music

Written by Damon on at 04:58

For our film opening we are sure what type of music to include so I have done a bit of research try and find out what music is used for action film and as our genre is action it would be best to look at music form action films, which is what I have done. What I have found is that allot of the music found in action films tends to more electronic and not allot of singing more of tune.

Possible music genres

Written by Damon on at 04:56

For our film opeing we have to have have some music involved within the scene, so to do sat down and decided on the possible music genre that would fit our movie genre the best which is action. The types of genres that we came up with are:

  • Opera (not many)
  • pop
  • Rock
  • Theme tunes
The reason we have choose the foollowing music genres is beccase from different movie opemning we have noticed that the they use above genres for example Sum of all fears uses opera in scen near the end when the car blows up.
Other action films that we have both see that has used rock music in is Transformers which was resleased in 2007. The film uses music prtoduced by a rock band called Linkin Park the song name used is What Ive done.

Anther example of music that is rock genre is the Quantum of solace which was released in 2008 the title of song name is Anther way to die which is the main theme song,I choose this as an example because it shows that rock music can be incorporated in action films which Quantum Of Solace is.
However I personally do not like the song because out of all James Bond sound trakcs I thought it was the weakest in my opinion. the reason I used this video because it shows that Rock music can be effective in film opening however for our story line I do not think that rock would suit it.

Pop music examples

Written by Damon on at 04:52

I also researched into different into films that contain pop genre music two good examples are:

  • Die Anther Day
  • Avatar

Sound track examples

Written by Damon on at 04:50

Looking at all different types of genre music that is used in action films we have come up with the conclusion that allot of action films just use a theme tune or a song with no singing or very little, however these are usually used at different scene through the film, this type of music is a good way

Music write up

Written by Damon on at 04:49

Having done research into the different types of music that is in action films I like the theme tune genre the best because it makes the scenes in films sound good but it doesn't over power the scene which other genres such as Rock. I also like the idea of a theme tune for our scene because if singing is evolved then I think that it over power and ruin the opening.

The picture slide show above is of Pictures that I have taken which think will be used during our film opening. I looked round various locations so that I was able to get better idea of what different locations have to offer. As you can see the majority of the photos taken are urban pictures, the reason for this is that our film opening colours are mainly urban I thought it would be best that the locations meet the needs.

For our film opening we have decided to include pictures of all Props that we might use in our film opening, the reason for this is that we wanted an idea of what we would be used in each frame. We also needed to do this research so that we were able to plan and organise the props for the day of the filming, because it would be no good if we did not plan this then on the day we would not have all the relevant props because we forgot about them.

Possible Actors/Actresses for film (Part 3 'Richard')

Written by Nick and Damon's Blog on at 04:34

This is 'Richard', it doesn't matter which character he plays either the assassin or the person who is in the car, I think that he would fit into any role.of the assassin very well, because he has a calm, but likes to get a job done and to male sure its done properly, if anything isn't done to satisfaction he'll re do it or finish off the job. and this is what assassins have to be like, because if they don't kill somebody, or if they are clumsy they might get caught.

On the first page all the text should be different types, but for some reason they all appear the same so, I am going to try to fix this problem, but the second page is OK, but I don't think we should use this type of text because I don't think that it'll fit in with the type of film that we are making plus it's very hard to understand the words due to the type of font.

fire photography

I have found this whilst I was surfing the internet for media inspirations and it's strange because I cant quite explain why I like it so much but I thinks because it allows you to develop your own ideas about it, for example it looks like a woman with a wing facing forward, which could resemble something holy, like an angel, and the flames could resemble hell, but yet again it could just be an optical illusion that I'm seeing and they are just random shapes in the flames.
Although I have found it and I like it i'm not quite sure how it will help me for inspiration on my media coursework. I'll update this post later to comment on ideas about the picture.

Colours

Written by Nick and Damon's Blog on at 09:20

These images may not appear to be linked to colour and colour schemes, but I got the images from google images, the picture of Ezio Auditore de firenze from Assassins Creed II is on here because whilst I was playing Assassins Creed II, I saw his armour, and liked to colours and how they go together well, I decide that we should use similar if not the same colours on our film.
The other three images, have been chosen because I like them espically the middle two pictures.
